What is hybrid flooring?

Hybrid flooring has a rigid core made from limestone and PVC, a printed timber or stone look and a protective top layer, with a click-together system. It combines the look of laminate with the water resistance of vinyl.

Is hybrid flooring waterproof?

The planks resist water well, so hybrid suits kitchens and laundries. Standing water and leaks must still be wiped up quickly, because water can get under the floor through the edges and gaps.

Hybrid or laminate – which is better?

Hybrid handles water and humidity better and is the safer choice for kitchens and laundries. Laminate is often cheaper, very scratch-resistant and suits living areas and bedrooms that stay dry.

What is engineered oak flooring?

A real oak top layer bonded to a stable multi-layer base. It looks and feels like solid timber but moves less with humidity and is easier to install.

What does a 2mm or 3mm wear layer mean on engineered oak?

It is the thickness of real oak on top. Each sanding removes about 1mm, so a 2mm layer can usually be sanded once and a 3mm layer about twice – more top layer means a longer life.

How much does flooring cost per square metre in Melbourne?

Installed prices in 2026 are typically $47–$115 for carpet, $52–$105 for laminate, $58–$125 for hybrid, $84–$210 for tiles and $115–$210 for engineered timber.

Can new flooring go over my existing floor?

Floating floors such as hybrid can often go over a flat, sound hard floor. Carpet, damaged boards and uneven tiles usually need removing or levelling first.

How long does it take to install flooring?

Most homes are done in 1–3 days, depending on the area, furniture moving and subfloor preparation.

What flooring is best for apartments?

Hybrid or engineered timber over an acoustic underlay that meets your owners corporation’s acoustic rules. Check the rules before choosing.

What flooring is best with pets?

Hybrid and laminate resist scratches and are easy to clean. Choose a matte, textured finish to hide marks.

What is the best flooring for rental properties?

Hybrid or vinyl – durable, water-resistant and easy to replace plank by plank.

Do you supply and install?

Yes. ATOP Imports Flooring supplies and installs across Melbourne, with a free measure and quote from our Eumemmerring showroom.

What warranty do you offer?

Our flooring comes with a 25-year residential warranty. Commercial terms depend on the product.

Do you also sell tiles, carpet and cladding?

Yes – gloss and matte tiles, carpet tiles, carpets, indoor cladding and outdoor decking, as well as timber, hybrid, laminate and vinyl.
